The first pre-writing activity that I completed was a web. The purpose of this web was to choose a place of literary significance to me and connect memories or important books/writings to it. I choose the front porch of my house. It was tough because I didn’t have a singular spot that I always go to read or write. However, this would probably be my most preferred place to read. I talked about the books I had read there and the memories of spending hours outside on the porch. Overall, this didn’t help me much with the pre-writing, as it didn’t give me any ideas for what to write about.

The next activity I completed was the timeline. This was a much more helpful pre-writing activity. By completing this, I was able to really think about significant literary moments in my life. There were several moments that I would have never thought to write about had it not been for this activity. This exercise has definitely given me several quality ideas that I can start to look at as possibilities for my essay.
