In my chosen significant writing project, which was the Social media project, I felt that I achieved the learning objective when it came to using evidence in my paper. For each of my claims for this project, I tried to incorporate multiple sources and evidence. This was a step up from what I had done in the past, where I had only used one source per claim. In order to incorporate multiple sources, I tried out different paragraph formats. Eventually, I decided on the Barclay’s formula, as it allows for me to use multiple quotes and connect them in the same paragraph. A good example of this would be in my first claim in this paper, when I am talking about how people are choosing lots of superficial relationships over a few intimate relationships. In this claim, I use a quote from Greenfield that explains how social media interactions are superficial, and then use a quote from Turkle later in the paragraph to give a more detailed description of how these interactions don’t compare to those in person. By using both of these quotes, I was able to present one, explain in, and then use the second quote to add even more to the purpose of the first quote. I feel that overall, I was able to successfully incorporate my ideas with the ideas of multiple other sources.
